Gosford Quarries currently operate from eight active sandstone quarries around Australia.

Gosford Quarries operates the largest and most modern sandstone processing works in Australia at Somersby, just north of Sydney. Gosford Quarrries stonemasons and technicians combine traditional skills with modern technology to meet the exacting requirements of any project.

Large sandstone blocks are delivered by truck from the sandstone quarries and are first cut into slabs by gang saw, diamond blade block saws or diamond tipped wire saws. Secondary cutting by smaller diamond saws produce basic billets sawn on all sides which are then worked to detail.

Straight forward mouldings with detailed profiles are machined by fully automated computerised diamond saws. More complex stones are worked by a computerised CNC/Profile saw or by hand by our masons with hammer and chisel.

Lathes produce round columns or balusters and hydrasplitting machines guillotine slabs creating blocks with a split-face finish ideal for walling. The surface finishes produced on sandstone vary from "hand rubbed", a very smooth finish, to strong chiselled finishes produced by hand or "rock faced".

Textured finishes, from cutting by gang saw or diamond saw produce further variety finishes for landscape or feature walls.
