A medium grained grey to buff quartzitic sandstone comprising quartz 60%, clay matrix 30% and 10% calcite, quartz and siderite. Lightly oxidizing after many years of exposure to the atmosphere. Wondabyne is an "A" class durability freestone with fine carving qualities, Wondabyne is grey when quarried and will turn to buff tones only after extended exposure to the atmosphere. Since the 1930s many landmark buildings in Sydney and Canberra have been constructed from this fine dimension stone from the Gosford Region.
